He Lived Long, And he Prospered

lenardIt is with a heavy heart that we at Rebel gaming may be bringing you the news which many of you already know.  Yesterday we lost a most epic human being, Mr Leonard Nimoy.  Known to most as Mr. Spock, the original first officer in Star trek.  Mr Nimoy was 83 years old and died at his home in Los Angeles.  he died from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease which he blamed on his smoking habit via his twitter account.  His final twitter message to us all read his classic line ‘live long, and prosper’.

Mr. Lenard Nimoy is arguably one of the if not the most recognizable Star Trek Characters that have ever or will ever be.  The internet was flooded with messages of love for Lenard and his family.  Plus of course messages from his dear friends and colleagues.

Zachary Quinto, who took over as Spock in the sequel, said his heart had been broken and described Nimoy as a ‘dear friend’ lenard 2

George Takei, who played the helmsman of the USS Enterprise during the original series, wrote on Facebook: ‘Today, the world lost a great man, and I lost a great friend. We return you now to the stars, Leonard. ‘You taught us to ‘Live Long And Prosper,’ and you indeed did, friend. I shall miss you in so many, many ways.’

Jonathan Frakes, who played Commander William Riker in the Next Generation series, said: ‘RIP to the best first officer.’

As a child of the 80’s, I grew up with the first generation Star Trek movies and love them still to this day.  Who didn’t love Spock and of course the man behind the character.  His passing is deeply sad, he will be missed by millions the world over.

Dear Mr. Lenard Nimoy, thank you for every thing.  Thank you for the memorys, RIP.
