Xbox Game Pass Review: Mortal Kombat X

Mortal Kombat X is a rated M  fighting game that was released on April 14, 2015. The game was developed by NetherRealm Studios and Published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The original price of this game is $19.99 but with Xbox Game Pass this game and many more are yours to play for just $9.99 per month. So with the release of Mortal Kombat 11 closing on our door, this is a great time to get back into it or get started on the Mortal Kombat franchise for a great price. This game will let you get a feel and be ready for when the next title releases and have tons of fun in the process.

Mortal Kombat X story takes place after the defeat of Shao Kahn. Earthrealm was attacked by Shinnok and his army. Raiden and the rest of Earth’s warriors put a stop to it by capturing Shinnok inside of his amulet. Over 2 decades later Outworld is in a civil war. On one side is Mileena,  who is Shinnok’s amulet and on the other,  Kotal Kahn, who Earthrealm has a peace treaty with. The Earthrealm warriors are dispatched to aid Kotal Kahn in the civil war and try to prevent Shinnok from returning.  Once they realize that it’s a possibility with a very entertaining story that can keep you occupied for hours.

Now the gameplay, in my opinion, is where this game truly stands out. In classic fashion its a player vs player or player vs CPU fighting game that has great graphics and very intense combat. I truly love how Mortal Kombat continues to stick to its roots with its gory fast-paced action and fatalities that never seem to stop being satisfying. Mortal Kombat X is one of the better fighting games I have played in a long time that truly takes me back to the days of the arcade at the comfort of my own home and once again with much better graphics. It has a combo-based fighting system that can be very rewarding if you pull them off but if you mess up expect to be juggled in the air and watch possibly 30 percent of your health disappear before you can even react. Every character has 3 different variations with all the classic favorites with a few new Kombatants added as well.

Overall I have to say this is one amazing fighting game that I just can’t get enough of, rather its the story, the classic ladder system, playing against your friends or just randoms online in multiple different game modes this game has something for Mortal Kombat and fighting game fans of all styles. For the low price of $9.99 once again this game plus many more are yours to play at no additional cost. Mortal Kombat X definitely is a game on Xbox Game Pass though that I would highly recommend to all fighting game fans and once you start it’s hard to put that controller down as I just keep wanting to grind more and more content out with its nearly endless possibilities. I definitely would have to rate this game an easy 9/10 and that’s probably being a bit harsh on it, so this is a must try game and another great one on Xbox Game Pass.
