Xbox Game Pass Review: Tom Clancy’s The Division

Tom Clancy’s The Division was first released on March 8, 2016 but don’t let the release date fool you. This game has just gotten better with time with constant updates and balancing patches. Tom Clancy’s The Division was developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft and is on Xbox Game Pass. The original price of this game is 49.99 but with your subscription to Xbox Game Pass for just 9.99 you can play this game at no additional cost!

Tom Clancy’s The Division takes place in Manhattan after a smallpox outbreak (also known as the dollar flu)  occurs in New York City on Black Friday. It sweeps through the city decimating it and forcing a government quarantine on Manhattan. You play as a sleeper agent for the U.S. Government in the Strategic Homeland Division or “The Division” for short.  After the quarantine who is activated to go in and assist first responders, investigate the flu and try and bring some type of order back to a crippled local infrastructure.

Tom Clancy’s The Division is a third person open world rpg shooter. This game is rated M for mature for intense violence, blood, and strong language with its online perspective not being rated but its community can definitely be on the toxic side. This game’s PVE aspect is pretty straightforward like most looter shooters trying to get better gear. Now the place where this game stands out from most others is the “Dark Zone” which is a mix PVE/PVP area that was designed to be unfair. Able to usually find pretty good gear in this area but unlike the game outside of here when you pick it up you still have to extract it by putting it on a rope that Helicopters drop at extraction points with at any moment another team, maybe even a friend, can go “rogue”  and kill you and take it for themselves. The “Dark Zone” is truly strength in numbers area mainly dominated by endgame players that send the ones still trying to gear running for their lives!

Tom Clancy’s The Division has come a long way since it first came out with multiple patches and added content to get to where it is today. This game definitely is not for kids and I honestly wouldn’t recommend it for a casual player but for one who is willing to truly grind, this is a fantastic game. Even though I am personally a big fan of the game for it being very harsh sometimes on new and casual players I have to rate this game 7/10 realistically.  I highly recommend you give this game a try and I believe it’s a great addition to Xbox Game Pass as it is a hardcore looter shooters dream game!
